Replacement sofa cushions
Sofa Cushion Foam
GB Foam started out in the sofa and upholstery industry in 1976, and replacement cushions for upgrading old sofas and chairs remain the best seller.

What foam do we recommend?
Polyurethane foam, matched to thickness
Choosing the correct sofa cushion foam comes down to the thickness you need, and whether they are back or seat cushions.
1" to 4" (2.5 to 10cm)
GB 39H
Firm feeling foam with just enough give for thinner cushions and pads, providing support and shape retention.

Measure the covers, not the old foam
Foam can become misshapen over time, so measuring old foam is not always accurate.
- 1
Use your existing covers
Measure corner to corner along the seams, pulling the cover taut. Measure both front and back, as some cushions vary in width.
- 2
Seam to seam for depth
With a piped edge cover, measure between the piping. Order foam to the cover border width, then add dacron and stockinette for the best fit.
- 3
Never measure across the middle
A domed top will affect your overall measurements.
- 4
Choose the shape and enter sizes
Select the matching product shape and enter your dimensions. Domed cushions: contact the team to discuss.
Extras
Why add dacron and stockinette?
They go hand in hand. Dacron is prone to becoming detached and can rub against cushion covers; fitting stockinette alongside it prevents that. GB Foam Direct recommends both for replacement sofa foam.
Dacron is a synthetic polyester, also known as Terylene, Kodel, Polywrap, Holfil, Cushion Wrap or Fiberfill. It adds about 1cm of loft top and bottom.
Dacron
Fuller, firmer feeling cushion.
Stockinette
Easier to insert and remove from covers.

Bolster straight back sofaSofa foam questions
Will my sofa foam soften?
Yes, all foam softens with use. On average foam softens 10 to 15%, and lower density foam softens more.
My cushion is domed. Can I still order?
Where there is a rise of approximately 1 inch or more above the seam, measuring between the seams may not suit. Contact the team for advice.
Why does my new foam smell?
Some foam has a "new foam smell" which can take several weeks to dissipate. It is a standard part of foam manufacturing.
