Foam Questions
Straight answers from GB Foam Direct on cut to size foam, measuring and how foam behaves in use.

Can you explain what cut-to-size foam is?
Foam cut to the customer's individual requirements. It is guaranteed to be square cut and have clean edges.
What is sheet foam?
Sheet foam is one cut from a block of foam. Sheets are not guaranteed to be completely square and may sometimes have imperfect edges.
My foam has changed colour. Why?
If exposed to sunlight it may discolour, as it is not UV protected. There can also be slight colour variations during manufacture. The foam is not defective and is safe to use.
Is all foam blue?
No. Foam is available in a variety of colours and densities, but two market-leading UK grades are blue (33H and 39H).
Will my foam soften?
All foam softens with use. The lower the density, the more softening to expect. On average foam softens 10 to 15%.
Why has my foam turned yellow?
Exposure to light and air causes oxidisation, which can make some foam look slightly yellowish. It has no effect on quality.
Why does my foam smell?
Some foam has a "new foam smell" that can take several weeks to dissipate. It is similar to a new car smell and is part of standard manufacturing.
How do I measure my cushions?
Measure from your existing covers, seam to seam. See the sofa cushion guide.
